I discovered Mandy at a yoga class at a local recreation center. I was looking for a yoga class to help me reduce pain and maintain mobility as I age. Mandy is the first yoga instructor I have found that, focuses on proper form and breathing. She challenges each person to do their best while keeping class fun and productive. Every class with Mandy is different and never boring. Mandy knows exactly what my body needs and how to help me achieve my goals. I was so impressed with Mandy’s knowledge of yoga and her teaching expertise that I set up private sessions. Each session is tailored to meet my individual needs. My pain level has dropped dramatically, and my flexibility is much improved. The breathing techniques that Mandy has taught me have helped to reduce my stress level and improve my sleep. Yoga with Mandy is the best investment in my health I have ever made. I wish I had found Mandy years ago. I highly recommend Mandy to anyone wishing to improve their quality of life.

Mandy is amazing! She conducter classes by observing and responding to all of her participants by encouraging, empowering, and adapting yoga moves to the skill level of each person. This is not an easy thing to do, but she does this with kindness and empowerment.

I really like Mandy’s style of teaching. Mandy is friendly and provides helpful advice on how to get the right posture. The breathing exercises are amazing and really make a difference for me to have the right technique and balance with my breathing.

Mandy is a kind and effective yoga teacher. Rather than rattle off a series of poses in staccato Sanskrit, she methodically describes the science behind each action using metaphor and a deep knowledge of the human body and the interplay of all its muscles. She will demonstrate poses at the front of the room but also walk around providing individualized corrections. The focus of her classes at the Westminster Rec Center is on body awareness, and hip, or chest openings. It is not a power flow but a holistic renewal for active adults. Her classes are fun, engaging, and enlightening. She infuses the class with humor and sincerity. I look forward to them every week.

Mandy Lauer is not just a yoga teacher, she is a teacher’s teacher. Mandy has a deep understanding of anatomy from the inside out, yet makes it feel accessible to all students, both experienced and new. Using beautiful language and metaphor, Mandy curates each practice into a delightful Sequence of poses that at once challenge, and liberate the body, mind, and spirit. Even after many years of teaching, Mandy continues to evolve in her practice as a teacher. She’s always open to learning new things, she asks for feedback and accepts it readily. Mandy practices and shares a deep sense of reverence and appreciation for the gifts of Yoga. She pays attention while teaching with intention.

I have practiced yoga since my late 40’s and am now a 73 yr old mother of four and grandmother of eight. Having engaged in Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Power yoga through the years, a few teachers have stood out. Having attended Mandy Lauer’s practice in the past year, I am increasingly able to focus on alignment and feel the expansion of my rib cage, deepening air in the lungs, and control of my muscles in relation to my joints, especially the hip joints. Mandy has unique abilities in assessment. She consistently demonstrates to her students how to use one’s mind and intention to safely encourage slight intentional, controlled movements to achieve optimum alignment of the spine. She has improved my awareness of my head position in poses and has deepened my ability to coordinate scapular/chest expansion & lumbar flexibility. She is so able to speak to specific areas of adjustment that increase the healthy benefit of each pose, that often I feel she is the best leader/teacher I have ever experienced. She can discern each student’s body mechanics in such a way as to assist verbally & by visualization how to alter and improve one’s posture. When needed, her occasional hands‐on adjustments are superb teaching tools.
As her student, I feel we are on a collaborative journey to work toward one’s full potential. My mind, body, and spirit are fused into a more balanced being, and overall deep awareness of wellness by the end of each practice with her. I value & trust her knowledge and guidance and consider her a superior yogi with a natural-born talent.
